Imagine you and your friends arriving at this magical venue. The sun is setting over the ocean. You’re met by classicly served drinks and… the haunting sounds of a concert violinist. It’s difficult to imagine a better start to a Friday night.
Violinist Sarah Newman is originally from South Wales in the UK. She began playing the violin at the age of 7 in primary school and continued her studies at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama Junior department until the age of 18. Following this she went onwards to gain her honours bachelor’s degree at Royal Holloway University of London where she received violin tutelage from Chris Heirons of the Royal College of Music.
Sarah is currently the leader/concertmaster of the Cayman National Orchestra and also performs with the CayForte String Quartet here in the Cayman Islands. She also teaches for Jukebox Music, a local music school where she works with students of all ages teaching violin and piano.
Sarah has performed with a number of orchestras and chamber groups around the world and has had the privilege of performing in accompanying orchestras to many well-known musicians. Sarah’s passion is playing, whether for a society wedding, a small gathering or… The Cayman Heart Foundation Sunset Gala – Hearts in Motion. We’re privileged to have her give our very special evening such a serene and beautiful start.
